The forest may be a nice place to take a stroll through during the day but it's a pretty rigorous and harsh environment to survive in night after night. Especially when there is another foe out there trying to take you and your comrades down. To survive a single night you and your team will need to develop Field Craft skills and survival tactics which combined with teamwork, leadership and discipline will see you through the night and hopefully assist you in defeating the enemy.
Our overnight operation involves two teams that will battle against each other over a 24 hour period. Highly trained ex-military personnel will guide the teams throughout, teaching them new team survival skills and battle tactics including; How to ambush the enemy base or patrol & how to conduct a fighting retreat when you have to.
Ultimately the aim is to allow the teams to experience exactly what can be achieved through courage, confidence, leadership, determination and faith in themselves & each member of the team.

Event Itinerary
Arrive at HQ on 21/02/05 at 12:00 hrs roll call and receive kit.
1 x back pack (black)
1 x set of webbing (black)
1 x set of mess tins
1 x 24hr ration pack
1 x knife/fork/spoon set
1 x set of overalls (camouflage)
1 x set of NBC camouflage
1 x helmet
1 x helmet cover camouflage
1 x water bottle
1 x roll mat
1 x sleeping bag
1 x black fleece bag liner
1 x poncho/tent
1 x pair of gloves, armoured
1 x warm hat
1 x set of wet weather gear, top and bottoms
1 x torch and batteries
1 x towel (dark blue)
12:30hrs - Briefing on the exercise and section allocation
The group will be divided into two teams {sections} and introduced to their instructors and section commanders.
The brief will be on general outline of the exercise and its main objectives.
The group will also be given training and how to use the 24hr rations and how to use the kit. They will also be issued their weapons and ordnance {Paintball guns and pyrotechnics}.
13:00 hrs - Move out to firm base
The group will move out tactically and tab {move as fast as possible} into the firm base. Firm base will be established approximately 2 miles from the HQ.
14:00 hrs - Arrive and set up firm base
The group will set up an all ground defence, individual bashers{tents} and cook themselves something to eat. Instruction will be given on how to complete these tasks.
15:00 hrs - Field craft and ambush rehearsal
Instruction on moving in section over various terrain and how to move as a cohesive unit at night.
How to carry out a fighting retreat.
18:30 hrs - Back to firm base and prep for night X
Briefing re: the mission objective/s and the ground. Kit up and move out to ambush position.
19:30 hrs - Move out
Move out in tactical formation to the ambush position and set up ambush.
21:30 hrs - Stand in to ambush position
This will be a test of the young people’s determination, patience, team work and endurance as they will have to remain still and quit for a long period of time in the cold and damp. Fear of the unexpected should give the fortitude to endure this experience.
22:30 hrs - Complete mission and tab back to firm base
They will have to search the enemy and find the information concealed on them. Then get back to base as soon as possible.
23:30 hrs - Back to base prep for night patrols and stag duty
Stag is sentry duty and is to be shared amongst the section. The time is to be divided into equal amounts of sleep and duty in the section. The other section will be out on patrol in the area. At approximately 02:30 hrs the sections will change rolls.
05:00 hrs - Stand down
Time to get some rest.
07:00 hrs - Reveille
Keep watch and prepare breakfast.
08:00 hrs - The firm base is compromised
The base is attacked by the enemy and the group is to fight a tactical withdraw and get back to HQ.
10:00 hrs - End of exercise and debrief
Equipment check, the group will then be judged on their performance and encouraged to make comments on their individual experiences.
11:00 hrs - Presentation parade
Each member of the group will be presented a certificate stating that they survived the course.
"Just a quick email which I hope can be passed on to those that marshalled and organised the day paintballing. Our group had a great time and enjoyed all of it, even the stag hunt!!
It was a great day and we all felt is was very well organised and as safe as paintball can be. We all spent the evening comparing bruises and tactics like true war veterans.
